This project takes the form of a wearable device. Simulating a message notification push shows people being robbed of their attention by their phones. The wearer is prompted to reconsider the role of the phone in everyday life. Where images, sounds and even the suffocating sensation of a glass cover force wearer to pay attention to notifications, but on the other hand, the content of random notifications entices people to watch. The mechanised pressing of buttons symbolises the constant movement of people picking up their phones. All the while ignoring the external passage of time in vain.
Inspired by the fact that I waste much time on my phone, I don't ever remember what I use it for, unconsciously picking it up. Capitalism competes for people's attention through a variety of notifications. These actions made me think deeply, "Are we caught in a trap of attention-grabbing by capitalists?".
